Hancock County unemployment jumps to 7% | Business
FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) – Hancock County’s unemployment rated increased to 7 percent in January, up from 5.2 percent in December of last year.
Nearly all Ohio counties saw an increase in unemployment rate in January as seasonal jobs disappeared. Rural counties seem to have been hit the hardest.
Still, unemployment in Hancock County is down a full percent and a half since January of 2012.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimates there are 36,400 employed Hancock County residents, with 2,700 still looking for work.
