31 students to graduate from OCC Basic Peace Officer Training Academy April 18

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (PRESS RELEASE) – Thirty-one students will be recognized as Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy graduates at Owens Community College Wednesday, April 18.

The special ceremonies will start at 7 p.m. in the College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts Mainstage Theatre on the Toledo-area campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The College’s Basic Peace Officer Training Academy graduation is open to the public.

Spring Cleanup Day to be held April 28

Volunteers will pick up litter along Hancock County roads on April 28 during the county's 31st Annual Spring Cleanup Day.

The cleanup will conclude a week of litter awareness activities sponsored by the Hancock County Solid Waste Management District, and will coincide with the national "Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup."

New State Wildlife Officer assigned to Hancock County

FINDLAY, OH (PRESS RELEASE) - State Wildlife Officer Scott Sharpe has been assigned to Hancock County on March 25, 2012, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. 

Officer Sharpe is a 1999 graduate of Liberty Center High School in Henry County. In 2003, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green State University. Officer Sharpe is married with two kids and he and his wife are expecting their third child in August.

There are seven seasonal positions: waterfront manager; three waterfront aides; and three park laborers. Also, a part-time park maintenance technician will be hired to work year-round.

FINDLAY, OH (PRESS RELEASE) - The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation has announced that tickets are now available to see Lisa Genova, author of the best-selling novel “Still Alice.” Genova will be in Findlay on Friday, March 2 as part of the 10th annual CommunityREAD event and will speak at the Central Auditorium at 7 p.m. She will be available to sign books after the program.
